Ms. Geraldine, Susanne, and Elaine: I am so priviledged to have known Morris most all my life, and have many, many wonderful memories of him. He was the greatest, he made me laugh, he told me stories about my father and his family, he was such a great guy. I am just so sorry for you loss, but I promise you, he is where he ought to be, and I bet he's dancing somewhere now. I will miss him. You all have my deepest sympathies. Beverly

He was my coach for American Legion Baseball when I played for the Southeast Arkansas travel team. He loved the team, teaching the game, and just being around us all, which is really saying something when you are dealing with teenage boys. I think coach would get more excited than we would when we won the game or made some great play in the field. He was a good man and I'm glad I had the opportunity to spend that summer with him.

Geraldine, I am so sorry to hear about "Fluffy" passing. He truly will be missed. Craig and I had doctor appointments out of town Monday and missed the services. Parker Lumber Company used to provide summer jobs for graduates of Dermott High School. I had the privilege of being employed there long ago, under the tutelage of Morris Parker and Duke Alvis. That experience remains with me to this day. I am grateful for it, and for Morris; I am sorry for his departure from this life, and I extend my condolences to his loved ones.

Growing up in Dermott, Chief Parker was someone I knew of from a very early age. I remember going to Parker Lumber Co. with my grandpa when I was little. I remember hearing the fire whistle and running to the window to see "Chief" drive by on his way to the fire with his red flashing light on his pickup. When I turned 18, I had the privilege of joining the Dermott Fire Dept. and serving under Chief Parker for 7 years until I moved away. I can't begin to tell all the things I learned from him during that time. I can't describe how much I enjoyed spending time with him on fire calls and on meeting nights. I always thought of him as a third grandfather. "Chief" was someone I truly admired and loved. Chief Parker represented many things that a young man can look up to: he fought for his country, ran his own business, and served his community for many years. I thank his family for sharing him with us all these years, and hope they can take some comfort in knowing how much he meant to me and so many others.
