Obituary for Cleveland Lewis

Cleveland Lewis 86, of McGehee, AR (a lifetime resident of Desha county), went to his Home in Heaven, on February 11, 2013 to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for all eternity.
He was born Oct. 22, 1926 in Tillar, AR to the late James Henry and Ella Fair Jones Lewis.
Cleveland was a self employed, business man in McGehee, AR. Where He owned and operated the McGehee T.V. Service and Radio Shack for many years. He received a diploma from Draughan School of Business and Radio in 1953. He worked hard to support his family and watched over his parents and siblings.
If there was anything he loved more than working, it was fishing. If fishing is a sport, he was a true athlete.
Cleveland donated many hours to the McGehee Sr. Citizen Center in McGehee from the time it opened in McGehee until his death. He never met anyone he didn’t like and everyone loved him.
Cleveland served his Country in WWII in Battery D 738th Unit Aircraft artillery Gun Battalion, on the Island of Saipan, Japan, where he received medals and ribbons for his service. He played in the Army Band to Entertain troops while he was there. He loved to play his guitar and sing with his brother A.C. Lewis.
Cleveland was member of the Desha Masonic Lodge #643 in McGehee, for 50 years. He received his 50 year pen for services last year.
Cleveland loved the Lord with all his heart and was a faithful member of South McGehee Baptist Church.
His survived by his wife Mary C. Lewis of McGehee, AR (thank God for the time we had together); one son, Kenny Lewis of Benton, AR and one daughter, Vickie Lewis West and her husband Glen of Clarksville, AR; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six stepchildren; and one sister, Lettie Ring of Modesto, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents: James Henry and Ella Fair Jones, 4 brothers, Cecil, Alvin, A.C. and James Harvey Lewis; 3 sisters, Fannie Mae Willis, Mary Rowena Abston, and Eloise Peacock. Wife Shirley Hubbard, and Wife Kathy Vinning Lewis.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at South McGehee Baptist Church. Visitation at the church will be 11:00 – 11:30. Lunch will be served by the South McGehee Baptist Church’s hostess committee from 11:30 to 12:30. Bro. Monta Kellebrew, pastor of South McGehee Baptist Church will conduct the service at 1:00pm.

Pallbearers are Keith and David Lewis, Shawn and Ryan West, Andrew Lewis, David and Jerry Hubbard, Brent and Wade Emerson, Jimmy, Mike, and Ronnie Peacock, Jimmy D and Stephen Cooper.
He will be laid to rest in Tillar Cemetery in Tillar, AR. Services will be conducted by the Desha Masonic Lodge #643 and Bro. Monta Kellebrew.
